Nov-30-2022 The Minister of MOECC, along with the Director-General of MOECC met with a senior delegation led by Ambassador. Steen Sonne Anderson of Denmark at the headquarter of MOECC.
Minister Shukri briefed the delegation about Somaliland's current environmental and climate change situation. The minister emphasized on the key challenges identified in the National-
Development Plan III under the environment chapter. Some the main challenges underscored in the meeting included but not limited to, Accelerating the protection of natural resources,
building resilience to climate change through adaptive measures and mitigation, and curbing deforestation by stepping up the fight against charcoal production from indigenous species.
In addition to the above issues, the minister along with the Director-General shared the ministry’s proactive interventions to ensure that the above challenges are sustainably dealt with.
On the other side, ambassador Anderson applauded the efforts of the ministry and assured MoECC that Denmark is ready to increase its engagement with Somaliland, particularly on climate change programs.
